My family has privilege. We could pull our kids from public education tomorrow. This is what breaks my heart. This is not a real choice. Parents shouldn’t be in the position of making these decisions #UnsafeSeptember
I’m a fairweather social media user. I don’t get into Twitter tempests in a teapot. But when I think about #UnsafeSeptember, I get really mad. And then hopeful. I see the hunger for real leadership. So this is when we can make Twitter work for us. To connect to create pressure.
So do the things you know you should do. Write letters and share info. When I called the Premier’s office, I got a very nice human being who transcribed my message. My plugged-in friends tell me a call is the highest form of response to govt you can give. Better than a Tweet.
Connect with your friends and neighbours and think of the whole system while you work with your local school. Now I'm going to get off my devices and stop ignoring the children I supposedly love so much. REMEMBER TO CALL AND WRITE. Thank you and stay safe.
Wait! One last thing. I don't believe in school at all costs. This is about public health + public education and safety for all. Curriculum is the lowest priority on my radar. Keeping communities safe in a pandemic is highest. Ok now I'm literally taking a hike. TY.
