This is a story about the time my best friend and I met Albert and Alberta Gator.
We were at the @GatorsMBK game against @OspreyMBB this past season. We got there early, but not early enough so we werenât able to sit in the @MBKRowdies section like we had planned. Tragic.
Bummed, we made our way to the nosebleeds. It wasnât easy to find seats way up there either!
The game ended, and the @GatorsMBK won 74-59. (Duh 
). As we were walking down the stairs to leave the @OConnellCTR, we saw Albert and Alberta near the stairs on the lowest level. So close yet so far.

My friend and I looked at each other like:
We sped down the stairs trying to reach our mascots. They were in the area where the players exit the court after the gameâs end.
While we were running down the stairs and speeding past people, we kept calling and yelling @AlbertGator and @AlbertaGatorâs name to get their attention. Those around us were looking at us like:
As we got closer, it started to seem like they were leaving too. Thatâs when we got desperate and started yelling even louder. âAlbert! Alberta! Donât leave, donât leave!! Albert! Weâre coming!â
We FINALLY made it to where they were. But right when we got there -out of breath from all the running - they turned around facing away from us. Just our luck!
What do you all think happened? 
We didnât give up hope yet though! This time we were waving our arms in the air trying to do anything to get them to turn around!!
After what felt like many minutes of public humiliation (
), they finally turned around and saw us. Probably heard us too.

I asked them if we could get a photo and of course, they were so kind about it. They immediately motioned for us to come over. This was definitely me on the inside. And likely on the outside too.
We walked over and took this photo. This will absolutely be blown up and framed. #GoGators
We were so happy, we had been looking forward to this moment since we were Baby Gators in 2018.
The photo is something weâll treasure forever, but the experience leading up to it is what makes it more memorable and heartwarming.
