Your kids learn how to treat others from how you treat others.

They learn how to treat themselves from how you treat yourself.
It's not enough to only be kind to everyone else. When kids see that, they learn that amazing people treat others well and hate themselves. They will model this even though you treated them like they mattered most in the world.
As a parent, practicing self-care is one of the most powerful things you can do for your kids. They need to see how to be a healthy person while also being a giving person. They need to see boundaries & break down your negative self-talk.
Kids need to see you forgive yourself when you fuck up. They need to see you believe that you are worthy of forgiveness. That you don't have to be a perfect person to deserve love & attention & good things.
Do not be a martyr if you have kids watching. You don't want them to treat themselves like that. They will learn what you do, not just what you say.

You have to learn, for their sake if not your own, how to get down off that cross and be healthy.
