good thread lrt!! it rly was so harmful and i'm glad to see more ppl speaking up against that mindset in recent years but it's sad if it's still prevalent...
another thing i want to add is that mental health is inherently tied to physical health..! your brain, body, and environment exist in a feedback loop; your brain is part of your body after all. The mind and body is not separate. Dismissing physical health(eg the infamous yoga)-
-as smth only neurotypcals can do and smth that has 0 effect on mental health is dangerous + also inaccurate...taking care of ur body is hard (and may b v difficult or impossible to do) but it's still v important to mental health and shouldn't be dismissed as smth unrelated...

anyway a bit of science: exercise creates endorphins(the feel good chemical in ur brain) so it actually can very well help your mental health, at least in the moment, as well as relieve stress!!

in fact i want to say...!! physical health should be considered as PART of taking care of mental health...! bc they r so intrinsically connected!! so taking walks, drinking water, eating nutritious food, etc this stuff can be considered as taking care of ur mental health as well-
-bc by investing in ur body u r also investing in ur brain, bc ur brain and body is part of a feedback loop
personally i do find it helpful when i feel like shit and breaking down to talk a walk and feel the night air... also make sure to drink plenty of water and get some food in ur body!! ahh... tumblr rly had so much bad advice back in the day... prob still is... but again glad to-
