I'd never watched any of the Saw movies, I'd assumed they'd be stupid. But hearing praise for Charlie Clouser's soundtrack and that Page Hamilton played guitar on it, I thought I'd give it a go when I saw some cheap DVDs in a charity shop. They then sat on a shelf for a year.
Mrs P hates horror films, so last week I watched the first one when she was playing World of Warcraft with her brother.
It was stupid and badly acted and badly directed but the plot was interesting and the sound and music was good. I liked the way things played out and twisted.

Then I had some time home alone while Mrs P and Child were camping. So I binged films 2 through 7 in 2 days. I benifits from quick viewing. Even though the plot gets ever more rediculous the production value generally goes up. Until 7 which is just utterly shit.
I'm really bad at recognising faces, I don't know if it's some mild face blindness, it's just something I'm rubbish at. To me, a couple of major charecters looked practically the same and I found that difficult to follow. So a few web pages were always on hand for reference.
1. The cast members wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Saw_(franchise)_cast_members
2. The timeline (spoliers) https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a834594/saw-timeline-chronological-order-jigsaw/
3. This ranking page is accurate to my assessment of them https://www.vulture.com/article/every-saw-movie-ranked.html
I still need to watch Jigsaw and I'm now looking forward to Spiral coming out in the autumn.
Quick note on why 7 is so awful though. 3 fucking D. So unnecessary and distracting. I watched it compressed to 2D so found it just looked weird, it still had that cut out affect like looking through an old ViewMaster. With unnecessary sound effects to make camera moves stand out
Whoosh. There was a minor pan whilst looking through some bars.
Whoosh. Someone walked towards you carrying a mug.
Whoosh. Someone threw an object.
Awful.

People making films in 3D really need to get over the novelty of it and use it to benefit the story. I've yet to see that done. Don't get me started on Avatar.
Oh, and the original Saw 0.5 shirt film they used to get funding is worth a watch if you are going down that rabbit hole
*short
Finished the series to date with Jigsaw the other night. Been on a but of a binge of YouTube videos about the series since
Why did John leave Adam the key?
Surely if Adam was supposed to be free to move around the room he would have realised John wasn't dead? I know he had injected himself to slow his heart rate but even so.
