1/ Dumbrill's China-related thread is devastating. Anyone who blindly trusts what western journalists & NGOs say about a US rival/enemy (therefore rival/enemy of its western accomplices like Canada, UK etc...) is being incredibly foolish. If you can't research, suspend judgement https://twitter.com/DanielDumbrill/status/1291987479340310529
2/ When I have been able to look into western media/NGO claims about some countries in Latin America I've found their capacity for lying &deception to be staggering. But it takes time to sort out - and it certainly helps if you speak the language of the country in question.
3/ Another tricky & important aspect to this is the "kernel of truth" problem. The most ridiculously untrustworthy unreliable source can say some things that are true. Saddam Hussein was not a reliable source, but was telling the truth about not having WMD.
4/ Similarly, the lying western establishment & its propaganda apparatus was not wrong to say that Hussein was a monstrous dictator. That's why I suggest "suspend judgement" when a claim about a western enemy is tough for you to look into.
