India has some of the finest economists in the world. Yet they have been systematically removed and ignored by this govt- Raghuram Rajan, Manmohan Singh, Arvind Panagriya, Arvind Subramanian. Whenever these people challenged our ministers, they were roundly mocked at and vilified
So now we have a history graduate at the helm of RBI and a meek ISB professor as CEA. When someone mentions 'look the GDP growth is falling', some idiot comes in look..the govt has has built 1 lakh toilets in the past month. (2/n)
Then when the economist asks, 1. good the govt built the toilet, but how were the toilets financed? (Macroeconomics of which Rajan is an expert) 2. who is going to ensure the toilets are used? (Microeconomics of which Abhijit Banerjee is an expert), the poor guy is lynched
And that, in sum, is why are our economy is going to tumble. If we witch hunt our experts, we are going to get punished too.
