I don't see how anyone can think it's better for the left if Trump wins. It's much harder to organize when the president is actively waging war on unions, slashing environmental protections, finding new ways to torment immigrants, putting protesters in unmarked vans.
It takes people's time and energy to resist these things. And people who are so cynical that they do not see the difference between this and the Democratic Party need to open their eyes. Liberalism is rotten and hypocritical, but white supremacist authoritarianism is a nightmare.
Neoliberal Democrats are more like Republicans than they admit (privatization, deportation, drones, etc) but there are critical differences. Trump is rolling back environmental rules that Obama put in place. Trump is building nuclear weapons Obama wanted to scale back.
Biden's climate change response will be inadequate. Trump's climate change response is "LET IT BURN." Biden's coronavirus strategy will be inept. Trump's coronavirus strategy is "KILL THE POOR." Biden will deport many immigrants. Trump wants as many as possible dead in the desert
These are differences with consequences. I am under no illusion that Biden is good. I have written a ton of articles about how awful he is. But Trump literally wants to end democracy. He wants to disenfranchise as many Democrats as possible. He wants to eliminate elections.
