First I want to say that it was not all of FFF who made that decision, it was FFFNYC. Seccond we were left out to dry by our fellow organization and that’s one of the big reasons why why we called it off. I reached out to multiple different orgs for support with the strike 1/ https://twitter.com/realhottake/status/1294976395643420672
And got multiple different no’s. When I got in contact with a core member of the NYC Climate Strike Coalition this is the response I got. @MaryHeglar
Then these are other members of the coalition (youth climate justice group) we reached out to for support. When your message is ignored and request for support is turned down by multiple orgs you begin to question whether you can really organize a large strike effectively
These are the same people organizing the environmental racism protest. They ignored us, didnt want to get involved but then criticized us for calling it off. We have numerous reasons for calling it off but it boils down to a lack of resources because we were blocked out by allies
So, when the enviormental racism march was announced with all of those organization I was surprised and excited because it seems like we could now help organize an effective protest with those orgs who had not been interested a week prior.
