Final rank: 125k - happy given the start but still meh
I spent the first 10 gameweeks outside the top 1 million players. As I have stated this season felt a real fight. Silly decisions made early on stunted my strong second half performance.
Key learning: a strong start is key

My team Value is considerably lower than most around me.
This is due to a very late wildcard around GW17 time. This seems a good idea to get a late push, however, come the end of the season I was fighting to find differentials due to low TV.

I also messed around with captaincy too much with differentials. A phrase I will take is these players are âdifferential enoughâ. Let your team do the talking and just let your captain tick along, need that 23/38 to be higher next season.
Key learning: Play captains safe

Following on from this, I moved my captaincy around a lot, not focusing on one player. Again, with the new focus on captaincy being a steady points stream in my team, I plan to captain a lower number of different players next year. Let the differentials just be differentials
In terms of positions, midfielders provided highest points per game for me, however, this is often where my budget went. This has worked out for me and I should look to continue the heavy hitting midfielders.
Key taking: A bulky midfield is good

When we put this in terms of Points per Million, It follows a simple pattern. What stands out for me is how badly either I picked, or how bad FWDs were this season. A strong defence and midfield seems to be the way forward for me next year.
Key learning: 442 or 352 for me
Key learning: 442 or 352 for me
If we look over time, some of my worst and best gameweeks have been driven by the forward line doing either well or badly. Defenders and Midfieldrs again seem to perform fairly consistently throughout. Pontentially due to the money I put there.
Key learning: Again, Def + Mids.
Key learning: Again, Def + Mids.
This leads on to formation analysis, i favoured a three striker formation more than anything else. Combining this with the form of my forwards, it may indicate why I performed poorly this season.
Key learning: 343 may look nice but 3 forwards isnât the way for me.

Looking at average points by formation. 442 ranks low as it was often when a defender came off my bench rather than me choosing it.
Again I favour 343 but it doesnât do anything more than other formations for me.
(433 was on bench boost)
Key learning: be less rigid in formation

ADAPTABILITY
So, I have seen there are key things that need to be learnt in my game, however, it is always good to be adaptable, have ideas and structures but not rules, FPL is an ever changing game and you need to shape yours around it.

Conclusions from my season
A good start is key - Early Wildcard for me very likely
Midfielders and Defenders seem the key areas for me.
442 or 352 should be my go to formations rather than a 343.
However, be adaptable, have a plan but be ready to change it.
