THREAD ALERT 🚨

I know a few people are doing these but I thought I’d do a thread on players to avoid rather than buy. I’ll pick one from every team but doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t rate them as a player just not as an asset to buy at the start of the season #FPL
Arsenal
Mesut Ozil-7.0M

Don’t think many people will consider him but his current ownership is 2.3% so hoping that’s just auto picks! Only 53 points last season and didn’t play a single minute after lockdown. Not in Artetas plans and they would love to sell him. 350k a weekšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
Aston Villa- Jota 6.0M

Honestly couldn’t believe this price when I saw it. Players like Saint-Maximin and Armstrong are cheaper, it’s a no brainier. Grealish, El Ghazi and Trezeguet all above him in the pecking order and Villa will probably look to buy another winger. Avoid āŒ
Brighton- Lallana 6.5M

I’ve always liked Lallana as a player but I think he will play a little deeper than he did in his best FPL season which was for Southampton in one of the 3 behind Lambert in a 4-2-3-1. He got 178 points that season! Good player but better options out there
Burnley- Nick Pope 5.5M

Controversial one as he was the top scoring GK last season with 170 points, but this just comes down to my goalkeeping strategy really. @EricDFreeman did a great thread on why Premium Goalkeepers aren’t worth the money and I think that applies for Pope.
Chelsea- Marcus Alonso 6.0M

Easy to look back on him with nostalgia, even last season scored 100 points. However, he’s regressed in points every season since his 177 point Chelsea debut season in 16/17. Chelsea looking to sign a LB, so won’t be first choice and could even leave
Crystal Palace- Patrick Van Aanholt 5.5M

Again a potential nostalgia pick, with his best points tally 140 points in the 18/19 season but I don’t think he’s worth the hefty 5.5M price. Especially, considering Ferguson is a expected to be first choice RB for 4.0M. Heartbreak šŸ’”
Everton- Gylfi Siggurdsson 7.0M

Bit of a theme here. Very good asset once upon a time with tallies of 181 points in 16/17 at Swansea and 182 points in 18/19 for Everton. Not sure where he fits in a two man midfield and think they desperately need CMs to compete ā¬†ļø up the table
Fulham- Joe Bryan 5.0M

This is the classic bump in price based on the play off final. Would’ve almost definitely come in at 4.5M if he didn’t score two goals in that game. Not a fan and think Fulham are a wait and see defensively, Hector 4.5M to be the choice if you did want one
Leicester- Kaspar Schemichel 5.5M

An easy one this one really exactly the same reasoning I gave for Pope being overpriced. Not worth the money šŸ’µ.
Leeds- Patrick Bamford 5.5M

He’s currently in 13.8% of teams and I’m quite suprised. A decent championship striker scoring 16 goals last year but has never managed to make the step up to the premier league. Think Leeds will need to buy a striker to achieve what they want to.
Liverpool- Bobby Firmino 9.5M

A fantastic footballer who I love to watch play, but it just hasn’t translated into attacking returns. 9 goals and assists last season but look at all the other ā€œPremium strikersā€. Werner for example has 28 goals and 8 assists albeit in Bundesliga
Manchester City- Ake 5.5M

Decent signing I think for City but think he has been signed as a back up option for Laporte, due to them both being left footed. I expect City to go big in the transfer market and sign a Right sided CB, potentially Koulibaly who has been linked.
Manchester United- Pogba 8.0M

On his day Pogba is a top player but I think for that value there are better options out there. Greenwood (7.5M) if he cements his place, especially if sancho doesn’t sign, is a much better option for 0.5M less. Pogba plays too deep imo.
Newcastle- Joelinton 6.0M

2 goals last season speaks for itself. Not good enough and I’m sure Newcastle are looking to sign another striker. Don’t think they can afford another season with him as their number 9. Would look at Mitrovic and Adams at that price if I had to.
Sheffield United- Lundstram 5.5M

The lord 🤓 . Was everyone’s favourite last season but he’s reclassification means sadly he’s no longer an option. Not even sure he’s nailed on anymore, and we’ve seen his minutes managed with the signing of Berge. Fairwell my sweet prince.
Southampton- Redmond 6.5M

A good player but just hasn’t been a consistent FPL asset in the past. I would listen to @SeasonKeepers new podcast with @CleanWipeoutFPL @fpldrug who are both Southampton fans who know more than I do. They mention him briefly in their 1st pod.
Tottenham Hotspur- Dele 8.0M

As a spurs fan I love dele, and hope he can get back to the heights of 18 goals 11 assists season in 16/17. Just not sure he gets back into our best side especially if mourinho favours a 4-3-3 he needs to play in the 10 in a 4-2-3-1. Wait and see atm
West Brom- Hal Robson Kanu 5.5M

Great goal against Belgium in the Euro 2016 QF for Wales, but a forward with 10 goals in the championship for 5.5M? No thank you.
West Ham- Lanzini 6.5M

Was once a fantastic player and FPL asset but since injuries hit he just hasn’t looked the same player. The man himself @sujanshah from @PlanetFPLPod is a West Ham season ticket holder and he would sell him if the chance arises, and I value his opinion
Wolves- Jota 6.5M

The final player in this thread. Reclassified as a midfielder, can be a great asset when he’s in form but is a very streaky player. Has started the season slow in recent years and taken a while to get up to speed. Also has competition from Podence and Neto šŸ‘€.
Thanks to everyone who made it to the end. Thought I’d give a thread a go, and give my opinions on a few players. Let me know if you disagree and have any of these players in your team 😊
