An analysis of player performances from last season - using delta xG. [ #FPL Thread]
Delta xG depicts how much a player performed over his xG, given by actual goals scored - expected goals.
The chart below depicts the delta xG levels of the top goalscorers from the last season - (1/5)

Higher the delta xG of a player, the more clinically he has performed, whereas a lower one denotes underperformance.
However, the players who get loads of chances (thus delivering a higher xG) usually tend to have a low delta.
Thus to get a better picture.. (2/5)

..I filtered out all the players with less than 70 shots over the season (no. of shots, over a large period, can be a good indication of how many chances a player gets).
The results are shown in the following chart - (3/5)

As shown, players like Deeney, Alli Ayew, Wood, G'wood are filtered out and the ones who shoot most often out of this bunch are shown.
From an #FPL POV, ideally you'd want players who are clinical and shoot a lot. (4/5)

In other words, players at the bottom of the table are the ones you should most likely avoid.
NOTE : Whether a player keeps up his level of delta xG is an imp. point. But it's worth noting that most of these players have shown similar levels of xG throughout their careers. (5/5)

Thanks to @Reuser5's suggestion I looked at the deltas as % of total xG - to indicate by how much % each over/under-performed their xG.
Anything beyond 30% (Messi levels), indicated by the line, is unlikely to be sustainable - KDB's out of the box shooting putting him on top?
