Gloucester.
Title given to the son of a Monarch. First used in 1385 for Edward II's son. 1414 (Henry IV's son) 1461 (King Richard III) 1659 (Charles I son) *A gap where the title was only 'styled'* In 1928 Prince Henry given the title.
In 1974 Prince Henry died, and his son Richard became Duke of Gloucester. A title he wasn't expected to have. His elder brother William died aged 30 in 1972 in a Plane crash. Only months after Richards wedding to Danish Born Birgitte Eva Van-Deurs.
The Gloucester's, (the Duke is the senior most male-line descendant of Queen Victoria), support many charities & organizations at home and overseas. Often their work goes unreported, but both are tireless supporters of the Queen.
