M&S to cut 7,000 jobs saying "shopping may never be the same again". The reality of #covid19 is a forever changed world.
People want everything to go back to the way it was but that's not going to happen. We have to learn to live with #covid19 for a while https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53817598
Some businesses have just got on with re-inventing themselves while others are just sitting by waiting for the mythical return to normal. Many businesses will fold through in action, others will go because the demand for their services has gone. I don't think there is any 2/8
doubt that we will have fewer coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, sandwich bars. The businesses that supply them will need to look for new outlets. My local dairy is desperately trying to pick up local sales as the bulk sales have gone.

Many businesses are now establishing 3/8
home working as the norm. They have to, with covid uncertainty hanging over them they must prepare for a winter of lockdowns. Many staff see this as really positive so their staff surveys say. We should therefore expect fewer people travelling to work in future, in fact a 4/8
very different work environment. This has significant planning implications around infrastructure, not least of which our appalling national broadband network.

Other businesses seem to be sitting on their hands happy with furlough & messages to customers saying we can't 5/8
deliver our services/products due to covid. Some of those won't survive.

The building industry has got going but can't get supplies. I took the last stock of 20x170 planks from my builders merchant yesterday & they don't know when they will get more in. Manufactures have 6/8
got to work out how to keep going with covid. While they try to save costs using furlough they are putting other businesses at risk. Alternatively people will just go elsewhere & that's their custom gone. I am personally pissed of with @SkyUK as they have shut down all 7/8
customer services. I'm going elsewhere to businesses that still want my money.
It's a very harsh new world & all the time the UK is also sleep walking into a #brexitshambles. I dread to think how many will be unemployed. At least M&S are looking forward. 8/8
