/5 To honor this special day - the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women in the United States the right to vote - we wanted to share a series of special videos spotlighting women and their achievements.
/5 Since I founded the @TakiAlsop Conducting Fellowship, we have had 24 awardees. These women hail from 16 countries & currently hold 18 Music Directorships. They are committed to being part of a brighter more equitable future.
/5 It’s my pleasure to share their stories & music with you over the coming weeks. I’m thrilled to kick off the series with an excerpt from the world premiere performance of ACROSS THE LINE OF DREAMS.
/5 With words by Jessica Duchen and music by Roxanna Panufnik, this piece celebrates the lives of two outstanding women at the end of the 19th century: Harriet Tubman & Rani Lakshmibai
/5 I am joined in this premiere by conductor @VPeleggi, a Taki Fellow (2016–2018), and the @osesp Orchestra and Choir.
