I see white Christians trying to tell Black Christians that the Black Church is unbiblical because there’s only one church and it’s not black or white. Thanks for the theology lesson. Now here’s a history lesson:

The Black Church did not develop out of an aspiration by Black people to separate themselves from white people. Rather, white people aspired to exclude Black people from fellowship. This white aspiration is what is unbiblical.

The Black Church is not born of aspiration but frustration. White people barred Black people, frustrating their desire to fellowship with whites as equal members of the body of Christ, equal image bearers of God, and equally indwelt by the Spirit.

You don’t like the existence of the Black Church? Don’t blame its members. Blame your grandparents and their grandparents.

And if you can honestly say based on solid information that no one in your family’s past contributed in the slightest to the exclusion of Black people in the church, congratulations.
You still don’t get to criticize the Black Church.
