Key point to note (and oft repeated by me) is that out of those 12 players, only 4 are left footed. And Robben won the final before these 7.
Messi, Bale, Salah, Robben, Di Maria = Probably the best 5 left footed players in the last 10 years?
A goal threat from the right wing = gold dust. Bayern don't have a left footed but Gnabry shoots from those angles with left/right anyway, so doesn't matter. These are just absolute essentials of a top team and budgets should be allocated accordingly.
You just have to make a team that can score from anywhere. - pinned in your own box; smash it into channels and score
- v low block; get into pockets and score
- Opponent shuts half spaces, score from crosses
- Opponent impenetrable on the right/left, score from the other flank
Forget all tactics, first find 4/5 players who will make an attack that covers all these skills and angles. That's how any elite team should be operating
