Thread: God bless a bottle of wine to say what I'm about to say. So apologies for typos. Two things have really hit home today with just how much work we on the left need to do to, let's be honest, stop f*king sh*it up. 1/
First was a clip by @PeoplesMomentum featuring @Yasmine_Dar with the massively unhelpful "stop refugees" line and its removal of individual agency, along with a weapons grade dismissal of human rights violations by countries like Iran creating refugees due to political beliefs 2/
The second was the objectionable comparison by @themendozawoman between what is happening now and Auschwitz. As much as I may at times disagree with @OwenJones84, he was absolutely spot on in calling this out btw and I'll defend him to the hilt on this one. 3/
We have to stop this. We have to stop saying it is "undermining our side" to call out those who actually undermine progressive policies. Honestly, this stuff is helping no-one apart from the right and those who abuse human rights 4/
It's not hard to acknowledge that calling out countries like Iran, China Russia et Al, isn't about capitalism, it's about standing against all human rights abuses, no matter who commits them. If we want to be better we have to bloody well prove it, and likes of this lot aren't 4/
