Thanks for everyone who voted in my poll

Based on the results... drum roll...

You want to hear my travel stories

Lucky for you I've flown over 500k miles

485,000 on Delta alone

PS. There will be a bonus at the end 🥂

I've been fortunate to see every major US city

And have clocked over 50 trips to NYC

(From the West coast)

But I'm even more fortunate to have traveled abroad

[cont...]
Last year I went on this amazing trip

And visited 6 cities and 5 countries in 10 days:

- Reykjavík
- Warsaw
- Kraków
- Budapest
- Prague
- Venice

So lets dive in!

PS. I took all of these pictures myself

[cont...]
First of all, why?

Why did I do this crazy fast paced trip?

Because:
- I'm 98% Polish
- I don't like "lazy" vacations
- Theres no place on Earth I don't want to visit
- My girlfriend is a warrior and would have it no other way

We'll get started, in order

1. Reykjavík

Flying from Portland, OR to Iceland was fast & easy

I had a layover in JFK (NYC)

And the flight from PDX to JFK was actually longer than the flight from JFK to Reykjavík, just barely

Roughly 4 hours for each flight

The flight was also only $400

[cont...]
Taking the redeye I landed in Iceland about 6am

Too early to check-in to my hotel

And so the site seeing began

The first thing I noticed was the similarity between Iceland and the Pacific Northwest

Overcast, green, and "moody" as I call it

[cont...]
Reykjavík is a pretty small town but there is plenty to see

Here is the Hallgrímskirkja, or Lutheran Church of Iceland

Which sits perfectly symmetrical at the right angle

[cont...]
I'm sure you're wondering about the food

And the fresh seafood is amazing, some of the best fish & chips I've ever had

Outside of that, the food is honestly weird

It's hard to describe but trust me

[cont...]
If you're familiar with Iceland then you probably know about the hot springs and the Blue Lagoon

Of course I had to hit this up

We actually spent about 4 hours in there, which was 4x the recommended I think lol

The Blue Lagoon is a massive hot spring

[cont...]
Here are some additional photos of Iceland

Including the Blue Lagoon w/ face masks on 😎

2. Warsaw

Ok next up we took a quick redeye to Warsaw

Switching to we as by this point I met up with my GF

And we did the rest of the trip together ❤️

This flight only cost us about $100 each and was about 4 hours

[cont...]
Being the largest city and the capital of Poland

We knew this was a must

Plus, not only am I 98% Polish

But I've also heard Poland is under the radar

And I 100% agree, go if you can!

[cont...]
Our Airbnb was less than $80 for 1 night and it was spectacular

Great building, awesome view, clean & modern

Check it out:

[cont...]
I'll share 2 quick Warsaw stories with you

1) During WW2 the people of Warsaw formed an underground army (literally) and they would come out of the sewers to attack the German soldiers

[cont...]
They put up a good fight, but eventually their molotov cocktails couldn't stand up to the tanks

And Poland was eventually overrun

[cont...]
The second thing I wanted to share was my experience I had with a local

We decided to really dive into my heritage and make pierogi with a local

My Grandmother would always hand make pierogi before she passed away ❤️

[cont...]
3. Kraków

Kraków is even more under the radar, but in my opinion was my favorite place of the entire trip

I couldn't go to Poland and not visit Auschwitz

So that's how we landed on Kraków, as it's only an hour away

[cont...]
Again, we got an Airbnb that far exceeded the price

For under $80 for 1 night this was our spot

Center of town and extremely nice condo

[cont...]
Kraków is full of midieval history, has great food, and the city is walkable on foot

Plus you can do a great day trip to Auschwitz if you want to dive into history and pay respect to those who experienced such horrific events

[cont...]
4. Budapest

Pronounced "Boodah-Pesht"

Was actually a very close second to Kraków

Great food, awesome architecture, and of course great history

EVER HEARD OF COUNT DRACULA?

Got to see his prison where he was once held

[cont...]
Yes, we got to see where Count Dracula was once held

The famous funicular was also fun to ride

Oh and saw the absolute coolest library of my life

Well, until we got to Prague that is

[cont...]
Forgot to even mention the Airbnb

Which again was under $100 and simply amazing

They only kept getting better!

[cont...]
5. Prague

Ok we're getting close

My fingers are getting tired and I'm close to booking a flight and leaving right now as this has me excited to travel again

Lets start with the Airbnb

Cheap, ish, but Prague is a much bigger attraction

[cont...]
So it's fair that Prague was much more crowded than everywhere else I've mentioned already

Prague had the bus tours, the walking tours, and overall was more crowded and pricy, rightfully so

I had to check out the apple museum and all of the medieval sites I could

[cont...]
On top of that I think I ate goulash twice everyday

Fortunately we were walking 12 miles a day!

Below you can see pictures of the famous Charles Bridge along with a view of town square

Continuing in a different thread as I've hit the limit

[cont...]
Apparently Twitter didn't want to load a lot of my pictures

Cool...

[cont...]
6. Venice

Venice is often talked about and once we learned some of the history we knew we had to go

Here was the view pulling into Venice from our water taxi

And another shot of the famous canals

[cont...]
My favorite part?

The bridge of sighs

Where prisoners were taken from court, to jail

And they often looked out on the bridge for one last glimpse of Venice before taken to their jail cell in the building next door

[cont...]
Second favorite part was Doges Palace

This gothic style palace blew me away with room after room of amazing architecture and history

[cont...]
Third I have to mention St Marks Basilica and The Horses

Napoleon actually took the horses from the Church in 1797 and transported them to Paris for the Arc De Triomphe

Talk about an ego!

[cont...]
That wraps up my trip to Europe last year

Let me know if you've ever been to any of these places

Maybe next time I'll share my visits to France

Until next time 🥂
