Good morning and happy September! This month is Get Your Shit Together September here at UfYH. I'll be posting one or two challenges a day, none meant to take more than 10 minutes each. If you're overwhelmed and don't know where to start, use these prompts as a little jumpstart.
Challenges will be added to this thread, and if you follow along, your home will be in at least marginally better (but probably even more!) shape each day and at the end of the month. And if you've got a little extra to give some days, keep going! It's just a starting point.
Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 1: Throw away/recycle/donate 10 items. If you're feeling motivated, do more! If getting rid of 10 things was difficult, stop there!
Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 2: Sweep, vacuum, or mop one room. (Pick stuff up off the floor first.)
Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 3: Put away 10 items of clothing.
Clean stuff back to the closet or dresser, dirty stuff to whatever receptacle (that isn’t the floor/chair/bed) you keep dirty laundry in. If you don’t have one, consider repurposing something.

Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 4:
Clear 10 things off of one flat surface (counter, table, dresser, shelf, etc.). Put everything back where it belongs, and if something doesn’t have a home yet, find or make one.

Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 5: Wipe down your bathroom counter, mirror, and toilet. Bonus points for scrubbing the toilet bowl.
Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 6:
Set a timer for 10 minutes and wash dirty dishes or put clean ones away. Repeat as needed if you’re feeling up to it.

Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 7:
Spend 10 minutes cleaning out your fridge, throwing away expired food, wiping down shelves, etc. Keep going past 10 minutes if you’re motivated.

Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 8:
Clear off one kitchen counter. Don’t just relocate the stuff to another wrong place; find or make a home for everything.

(I broke the thread for days 9 and 10; sorry. Gonna try to get back on track here.)
Before we move on to more challenges: the official UfYH rule is YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE UP MISSED CHALLENGES! Start where you are, skip or repeat some, it’s fine! Every day is a chance to start over; don’t get bogged down with stress about days that have passed. Just start now.
Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 11:
Put all of your shoes and bags/backpacks/etc. away.

Get Your Shit Together September challenge, Day 12:
Give your shower/tub a spray with some cleaner, let it sit a minute, then a quick scrub or wipe and a rinse. This doesn’t have to be a deep clean if you’re not up to it. Aim for “somewhat cleaner than before.”
