There is an @SectionVI Football meeting taking place tonight. I'll try to provide some info for you..

Offering full transparency and will be proactive with info given from State.

- http://WNYAthletics.com  will continue to host schedules, results, rosters
- Teams can begin practicing Sept. 21
- Rosters due Oct. 15
- First weekend of games Oct 19
- No physical contact during team practices
- Conditioning drills only
- Players must have 12 practices before they can be game eligible
- JV player can appear in 10 plays of a Varsity game as long as they had 2 days rest in between games
- No boundaries within Section (1/2)
- Teams can travel throughout the Section to play an opponent (2/2)
- Section is preparing for 7 week regular season and a 2 week postseason, Division winners advance to semi-final
- Higher seed would host semi-final games. Final games to be played at a to be determined site
- Coaches should prepare for a shortage on officials
- Until further notice all programs should follow state health department and district guidelines
- Semi-Finals would be 12/5
- Finals would be 12/14
- Non-Playoff teams can schedule non-league games
- State officials/Superintendent can shutdown the season
- If cancellation or disruption, expect to pick up in the spring
- If season is postponed to spring, teams should be able to continue with offseason conditioning. Section is checking on this scenario
- Coaches should anticipate some changes
- NYS has been very vague on information as it relates to high-risk sports, when Section has news, they will advise
- "8" Man travel rules being discussed. Sec. 6 has 3 teams that play mostly Sec 5 schools. Waiting for guidance.
- Yes, JV and Modified programs can play. District decision
- NYS cut 20% from the school budgets
- Section Chairs asking coaches for flexibility and understanding...unprecedented times
- Section chairs share in everyone's frustration
Without State approval there is no football.
