Thread: So many Flyers fans seem eager to see Voracek traded. I'm not automatically opposed to trading any player but just realize that he's NOT an easy player to replace or upgrade upon: a big, strong forward who can also skate, handle the puck on entries and thread the needle.
In last 7 seasons, Voracek is 17th among NHL forwards in points, 6th in assists. 0.85 points per game in that span close to Tarasenko (0.87), Barzal (0.88) & Kessel (0.86). Same as Bergeron, Aho & Barkov. Higher than Huberdeau (0.83), Pavelski (0.83), Laine (0.81) Kuznetov (0.81)
There are times when Voracek can be a frustrating player, including to AV. He does make some careless plays. I think we'd all like to more often see him get in that "I'm taking this puck to the slot/net and no one is gonna stop me" mode of sheer determination he sometimes has.
He'll never have rep of a two-way player. But during the regular season this year, Voracek worked hard on his two-way play, and had hood season overall in that regard. The 2nd goal of Game 7 vs. Isles started with his weak-side coverage breakdown but overall season was fine.
Jake has been here a long time: Nine years now. With all players, you take the good and not-so-good. He's emotional, shoots from the hip. He's free-spirited. But he also cares, and he plays through almost anything. Hardly misses games. Can take his 40-50 assists to the bank, too.
