Can we talk about numbers (re: streaming) for a minute?
I’ve been streaming for almost three years now. I don’t want to go full time. I don’t ever want to rely on streaming as a soul source of income.
As someone in my situation, I “shouldn’t” care about numbers, but I do.

I stream to entertain. I’m happy with my average viewership, my community is amazing, but it still hurts when viewership drops.
I’m not saying this to beg for views; I just want to articulate something a lot of smaller creators might relate to, but may be afraid to express.

Numbers aren’t everything and there are a million reasons numbers can fluctuate, but at the end of the day, it sucks to feel like people are losing interest. It sucks to feel like you’re not improving at something you’re investing time and energy into.
It’s hard to not be discouraged when you feel like you put on a good stream, but it seems like people didn’t want to stick around. It’s hard when you put so much of yourself into your stream.
Again: nobody owes streamers anything, but it’s hard to disconnect value from numbers.

It’s hard to talk about stuff like this. I worry that I will come across as greedy or ungrateful for the people that do watch me. Twitter loves to come for people that stream for the “wrong reasons” (as if nobody is allowed to want to make a career out of streaming.)
