BREAKING: @theSMSD has unveiled its plan to "transition from remote to in-person learning."

Two big takeaways:
1) Elementary students will be all-remote through Oct. 2

2) Elementary parents being asked to take another survey to choose preferred learning mode for ENTIRE year.
After Oct. 2, district plans at least two weeks of hybrid learning.

Then, a planned transition to all in-person learning for ELEMENTARY only on Oct. 19
Again, this does NOT impact middle and high-school students. Secondary students are still in all-remote learning for the indefinite future...
Board member @ForSmsd immediately raises question: will parents be able to make a decision for the entire year by Sept. 13 (deadline for responding to new survey.)
Side note: at times, I think I can HEAR people chanting outside building on livestream of this board meeting.
And for those of you wondering: what about sports?

They have not gotten to that topic yet. But it's coming.
