hi friends! please sign this petition, and encourage your local Neighborhood Council to sign on as well. let’s send a message that we want public spaces that are accessible to ALL people and designed for inclusion instead of exclusion #HomesNotStones

hostile architecture comes in many forms - large objects used simply to take up space, benches designed to be uncomfortable, spikes and bumps that prevent people from sitting down on a ledge, fencing put up in public spaces to keep people out #homesnotstones
places to sit or lie are not just an issue for unhoused folks! for seniors, people with mobility issues, or anyone who is just tired and waiting for the bus, having a place to sit down or be in the shade offers a benefit to the community #homesnotstones
when we design public spaces to exclude vulnerable people, we’re prioritizing the aesthetic preferences of some people over the health, safety, and comfort of others. hostile architecture is bad for us, our communities, and our public spaces #HomesNotStones #APeoplesCity
what can you do to help? neighborhood councils & city council offices are a good way to register complaints. if you’re upset abt hostile bus benches, try contacting Metro. talk to your neighbors. if possible, remove/neutralize the hostile architecture yourself! #HomesNotStones
imo hostile architecture is not only an indictment of the priorities of those who deem it “necessary”, but it’s also just plain ugly :)
