Dear Teacher-people doing your very best w/ #VirtualLearning,
You are doing an amazing job. This looks so much better than the spring already.
Based on what I'm seeing in my 3 sons' (5th, 9th & soph in college) virtual classrooms. I have a couple suggestions: (1/7)

Based on what I'm seeing in my 3 sons' (5th, 9th & soph in college) virtual classrooms. I have a couple suggestions: (1/7)
1. #Typing is a skill. It takes kids longer than you realise to type. Give think time before opening the chat, typing is going to take up all of their brain power. Ask them if they need more time to finish responding. (2/7)
2. #PlatformFatigue is real. Keep the tech simple. It is supposed to supplement your teaching and their learning, not take the place of it. #YouAreEnough (3/7)
3. MORE BREAKS PLS. I know you're scared they might not come back, but they need to move their bodies to keep their brains engaged. #brainBreaks (4/7)
4. #GroupWork is more important than ever. Kids need to connect with one another, to build relationships as learners. They learn best together. Give them time to chat and then let them get to work. (5/7) #breakOutRooms
5. WAIT TIME...
Silence is uncomfortable. It's even more awkward online. But #WaitTime is the easiest #UDL strategy to make sure all of your students are able to fully engage in the content and as a member of your learning community (6/7)

Thank you all. We see the work you're putting in on & off screen. This is so hard but you're still working your butts off for your kids. Please take care of yourselves too. #ThankAnEducator #ThankYouForComingToMyTEDTalk (7/7)
