2/4 Most of the focus on #COVID is on the first wave and second wave of the infection. Missing is enough attention on what we are calling the "second hit" of Covid-19, the impact on health of the pandemic beyond the virus itself.
3/4 The data on the 'second hit' is alarming: childhood vaccinations down 40%, cancer screenings down 90%, depression symptoms up 300%, 44% of Americans with food insecurity, and 60% drop in primary care visits.
4/4 By focusing on our most vulnerable populations and designing new clinical programs to support them, we can mitigate the second hit and in the process design a stronger, more equitable health system.
