Back in Mar, the fed gov called an extraordinary situation which allowed it to put the country in lockdown. A issue with Eigenverantwortung: some measures interfered with someone being able to take responsibility to protect themselves. Ex: school returned inperson and WFH rec was rescinded. Many workplaces called all of their employees back to WFO even when unnecessary. 3/
Another issue with Eigenverantwortung: it meant different things to different people. Here’s the meanings I could think of:
I will take measures not to become sick.
I will take measures not to get others sick.
I will take care of myself if I get sick. 4/

I have decided that corona doesn’t matter, nothing to take responsibility for.
I am in charge of other people’s lives and will protect them or they can use their own Eigenverantwortung to protect themselves. 5/

The list of what Eigenverantwortung meant to each individual here is probably endless. But, you can see how some interpretations can lend some portion of the population gladly becoming carriers of covid19. 6/ #CoronaInfoCH #COVID19
Plus, it gave this illusion that everyone who got covid19 had put themselves purposefully in risky situations because otherwise they would have had Eigenverantwortung and avoided it. This doesn’t account for the fact that people are unnecessarily exposed at work, school, etc. 7/

This focus on Eigenverantwortung pitted ppl against each other. Now, everyone is busy blaming each other for getting sick, passing on corona, etc. Instead, we should ask the gov why they allow their population to self-destruct? Maybe that's a different thread. 9/9
