Republicans are trying to throw out 100,000+ votes cast at drive-in voting centers in Harris County. I went to one yesterday. Voters use the exact same voting equipment that is used in traditional polling places. The only difference is that they’re sitting in their cars.
A Harris County official told me they were “surprised” to find Republicans suing over the centers bc the party had been consulted extensively in their conception & design. See that fan? It’s there because Republicans asked for them, to prevent carbon monoxide buildup
The official told me that the drive-through centers had been especially helpful for parents with young kids. Parents told him it was so much easier to vote when the kids were buckled in and occupied in the back seat.
Another group the official said the drive-in centers had been helpful for: disabled folks and older people who didn’t walk well but still wanted to vote in person

These are the kinds of voters for whom showing up on Election Day will be difficult if the ballots are thrown out
