Okay, bear with me now (this is not a bear joke). This is about a cool thing amidst all the crap.

When I was a kid, one of the first bands I really adored was The Busboys. They were an inventive, creative rock and soul band right from the start.
They had such an energetic and charismatic funtime live vibe that it wasn't always immediately apparent to all that they also had fantastic songwriting chops, primarily from keyboardist Brian O'neal, but some from his brother, bassist Kevin O'neal.
Their onstage appearances in film and tv suggested that they were the best party band going, but they also wrote New Age twisters, moving love songs, and often really sharp social commentary.

I love all their albums, I have listened to them endlessly forever.
They had a fluid membership, with the leader, Brian O'neal, being the one constant. They were known for being a favorite of Eddie Murphy's, who famously sang back-up for them in an SNL appearance.
But their biggest successes came from film. They were the club band in 48 hours, playing "New Shoes" and "The Boys Are Back In Town."

They stole their scenes from Murphy and Nolte, not the easiest accomplishment at the time.
They also had a hit with "Cleanin' Up The Town" from the Ghostbusters soundtrack.
Their third album is my favorite, Money Don't Make No Man. The title song should have become an all-time classic, in my opinion. There are a couple versions of it, I highly recommend both.
Anyway, I love them to pieces, but sadly, they only released four albums of music, so Busboys fans have had RATHER A LONG DRY SPELL between albums, with only a few new songs in between.

Again, all four of the albums are great, and highly recommended. They start off as an unstoppable good time, but the songwriting matures into a really lovely and wide range of genres and styles.

But here's the cool bit. Even as big a fan of them as I am, I didn't know that they had released a new song and video just a few weeks ago.

I was a bit concerned, it's been a long time. 20 years since their last album.
I needn't have worried.

The BusBoys decided to come back and take no prisoners.

It's a rocker. But it not the nostalgia soft-serve that that often implies.

It's part HELL YES and part FUCK THIS.
It's called CIVIL RIGHTS and I can't stop listening to it.

They are not playin' around.

Cannot recommend it enough.

Give a look and listen:
So if you remember them fondly from SNL or FRIDAYS or 48 HOURS or GHOSTBUSTERS, seriously, take a look at what they have to say RIGHT NOW.

I love you, @busboys. Thank you for so much of my favorite music of all time, and for bringing fire when we need it!
This is a legendary early performance from the @busboys
