#Success to me is this: That the place and circumstances of a person's birth need not determine how far they go in life or what the achieve over a lifetime. THREAD https://twitter.com/bereacollege/status/1322977028337995779
I finished high school in a refugee camp in Tabou, Cote d'Ivoire. The high school was run by @ADRAIntl with additional support from @Refugees. In 11th grade, I was visiting some friends who had brochures from this tuition-free college in America - @bereacollege . /2
After high school and back in Liberia, I applied to @bereacollege. I sent my admissions package by missionaries who had come from @EmoryUniversity and Baptist churches around Atlanta. I received my admissions email at an internet café in a crowded market in Monrovia. 3/
The letter was even apologetic that @bereacollege would not be able to assist with airfare. My family contribution was assessed as $50!! The rest, as they say, is history. Today there is a banner with my name on campus - a "Notable Berean". 4/
So yeah #success to me is simply what @bereacollege stands for. Opportunity to escape some of life's negative circumstances. "The first interracial & co-educational college in the south" that affirms that "God has made of one blood all peoples of the earth". END
