What Restorative Justice is AND ISN'T (a thread).... 👇👇

You can read about the #RestorativeJustice process and the positive outcomes it has for victims on our webpage here:
http://victimlincs.co.uk/restorative-justice

But what is it NOT❓🤔

Read on… 👇
❌ Restorative Justice is NOT an ‘outcome’ and is NOT part of the Criminal Justice process

❌ Restorative Justice is NOT a community resolution.

Please read on… 👇
So what IS a community resolution then?🤔

Unlike #RestorativeJustice, a community resolution IS an outcome -used by police to finalise crimes out of court

RJ is separate and NOT part of the criminal justice process

In fact, RJ generally happens AFTER the crime's been finalised
#RestorativeJustice is a service for victims of crime which sits separately from criminal justice processes

The process is entirely victim-centered and allows them to communicate safely with the offender:

👉discuss what happened
👉seek answers to questions
👉gain closure
Communication is facilitated by trained practitioners and is thoroughly risk assessed - sometimes taking months!

Please take time to read about the RJ process and the positive outcomes it can have:
