Long Thread on US elections: Why is the future of USA dependent on this outcome?
As India wakes up this morning, Americans will have an uneasy sleep tonight. There has never been so much at stake on the ballot as is now.

Before you react to this, let me assure you that there really has never been an election as critical as this. Why? This thread will simplify the complex politics of US for Indians who want to know this amidst an extremely cluttered media bias & blitz. Here we go –
POLITICAL POSITIONS: What do the 2 major parties stand for? Republicans is the party on the RIGHT of center – they stand for smaller government, lower regulations, free markets, lower taxes & capitalistic economy.
Republicans are people of the ground – they belong to the armed forces, police, farmers & industrial workers. They believe conservative social values & have nationalistic values at heart. Country comes first, always. The contrast though with the democrats couldn’t be starker.
Democrats are believers in socialistic economy & their politics is entirely LEFT of center. Democrats believe that capitalism doesn’t work for everyone & fruits of the taxes have to be distributed. They have bigger governments, higher taxes, more regulations & a welfare state.
As things stood, the welfare state didn't have much relevance in USA.The country had booming economy post 1945 & people rode the bandwagon to wealth.American dream of home ownership, well-paying job & cars was coming true for almost everyone. Sit tight & enjoy the ride in USA.
Unlike developing countries with much smaller affluents, middle class constitutes 70% of USA. And their living standard has been much better than the “rich” in relatively poor nations. However, there was a change gradually creeping in that created a space to the left of center.
Let’s first understand the stand of both parties on major issues to absorb how far apart they are & why.

Most of democrat voters are the bottom 40%. They struggle for employment & health insurance. Obama tried to address this by an act called ACA(Obamacare) which charged more premiums to the middle class to subsidize the bottom 30%.Most beneficiaries were democrat base. Well played!
However, this increases the burden of treating the poor on the top 60%.Republicans like to remove socialized intervention of govt in the healthcare sector that constitutes almost 18% of US economy. Lobbies are involved & that’s why democrats get the most funding for elections.
IMMIGRATION: This is the most critical subject for either party & you’ll see why. Democrats have occupied the space of a party that is seen friendly to immigrants. As an immigrant, do I like this approach? Absolutely not. And most Indian's don't.
Because this democratic approach works for people who get in the country illegally & get in the legalization line thru various channels. And they become the democrat voters for life. Does it do any good to the country? Of-course not, except Dems getting more votes.
Trump & Republicans are trying to plug this illegal immigration from poor economies of South America. If you are bordering USA & poor, why won’t you try to migrate? But there is only as much that any country can accommodate.And so the “wall” becomes critical, 50% built already.
That said, US is & will always stay open for talent that adds value to the country. I must assure you that this channel will never stop, specially under Republicans. Don’t be fooled by half-baked debates & views being spread on this by Indian press.
RACE: Today Biden gets the support of Blacks, Hispanics (Migrated from South American nations),Muslims, Russians, Eastern European nationalities & Indians.Why do well earning & meritorious Indians in USA align with the welfare seeking vote base of democrats is a puzzle.
Just because they nominate Kamala Harris of Indian roots, I see no good reason why tax paying Indians should bend towards a Biden presidency. Trump on the other hand stands for Republican values of country first & secure borders. Why secure borders? See this chart below:
So,USA was 80% “white” till 1984 when it elected Ronald Regan(Republican), winning 49/50 states. This feat is almost impossible to achieve now. See the demographics in 2020. The country is about 12% black but Hispanics have gone up from 6% to 18% in a matter of decades.
And that all is where democrats are trying to stitch a party based on identity politics. This is also very typical of all left leaning parties globally. Left works on aligning voters based on identity & race, so they stay with them forever.
Because beyond a point, welfare socialists can do very little for poor. Ironically,they are all funded by rich. Communism at its best,breeds the highest order of elitism & corruption while doing very little for the people. We see signs of this in democratic run states in America.
ECONOMY: Democrats act like a Santa Claus for its voters. It promises them everything. Free healthcare, free college education (by talking about waiving of education loans), Food subsidies & what not. All this while still trying to reason that they will tax only the rich.
Well, economics is a bit more complex than that. In real life, Santa Claus doesn’t exist. Someone must pay for all this socialism. So, it stays as it is, plan talk. The democratic party prohibited visa for then CM Modi for human rights issue, something a republican will never do
If you stay in USA, you know democratic run states have highest taxes & poor infrastructure. How else will you support the welfare measure for the bottom 30%.These states have highest debt burdens & are on the brink, of collapse. This this election will decide the fate either way
In the recent & much politicized protest around “black lives matter” you would be shocked how big retail showrooms were looted in New York & Chicago,run by leftist democrats. New York loting in the garb of protests will put the least developed nations of Africa to shame.
And what good will the looting of Rolex & Apple showrooms do for the black lives matter protest? If this soft glove approach towards law & order is what democrats justify just because a particular race is involved, God spare us with such political revolutions.
WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW? If there ever was a life & death situation for a nation that hinged on an election outcome, THIS IS IT. Outcome will decide the direction US politics takes. Future of the greatest nation is at stake…..may the best man get 4 more years !!
