50 years ago today!!! After losing 3-2 in the 1st leg at White Hart Lane on the 21st October, Motherwell faced Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd leg on Tuesday 3 November 1970 in front of a crowd of 22,450.

Spurs scored first that night but goals from Tom Donnelly, Bobby Watson and Brian Heron saw the ‘Well record a famous 5-4 victory. Fans of a certain age will remember that November night under the floodlights as if it was yesterday.

MacRae, Whiteford, Wark, Forsyth, McCallum, Watson, Campbell, Donnelly, Muir, Heron, Deans. (Kirkie Lawson & Billy Ritchie were substitutes. Captain/scorer in the 1st leg Jackie McInally didn’t play in the 2nd leg. Ken Hancock was the ‘Spurs keeper not Pat Jennings).
