So, long story short, they made it up. Health institutions just made it up and it wasn't based on anything.

I tried to research it though. Basically, people tried to do the same thing and came up with nothing. They surmised that it was based on people..weirdly not knowing that water is in everything we consume, 'sugary' or not, solid or liquid.

I meant '8 glasses a day' not 'today' but welp. Some people WILL think they have to drink 8 glasses of water today.
