1) “Vibrations” aren’t a mysterious fucking thing that you raise or don’t raise. Motion causes vibrations. Other things interact with things to create interaction which expresses as vibrations. Top-down new age bullshit explanations and total disregard of physics annoy me.
2) Theories about how things “vibrate?” Sure, okay. Presenting “vibrations” as a factual explanation or solution for anything demonstrates a lack of critical thinking skills and more annoyingly a lack o humility. “Just raise your vibrations” means nothing.
3) And I’m saying this as an energy worker. Ffs. It’s okay to admit that we don’t know stuff without offering explanations that aren’t explanations. “They said I need to raise my vibrations,” uhhhhh. Wtf does that mean? Nothing. It means literally nothing.
4) We don’t know yet why some stones feel really fucking good. We don’t know yet why they seem to impact people in certain ways. We don’t know yet why reiki seems to help. We don’t know and it’s okay to say that we don’t know. This doesn’t mean it isn’t real if we don’t know yet.
Lack of a current quantifiable answer doesn’t mean something is not real. It just means there isn’t an explanation yet. However, lack of a current answer is not license to go make shit up. “You need to raise your vibes.” Nice diagnosis. Where’d you get that, your oracle deck LWB?
6) How about this: Hey client, my intuition is suggesting you try this thing, it may help with this issue. Keep notes to see if you feel you’re gaining any benefit from it and let me know how it works out for you.
7) We don’t have to know everything. We don’t have to make up explanations when there aren’t any, yet. And we DO need to use observational and critical thinking skills. We SHOULD takes notes and track our observations over time.
8) Does this mean we have to discount our feelings? Our intuition? NO. Track them. Observe them. Collect them as data by writing it all down and reviewing it later for patterns. They’re valid as data. They may assist you with explanations at a later date.
9) To clarify: Yes, the concept of “vibration” can sometimes be part of an observable explanation for a phenomenon. Going on about “raising and lowering vibes” is just some made up shit at this point. Maybe some day we will know more. Great!
10) I’m not saying “only science can make us real.” I’m saying critical thinking skills are important to our work, and that we don’t have to invent explanations that don’t yet exist in the physical world. We are already valid. But making shit up doesn’t further the work.
11) Some day, with more data/equipment/evolution of theory maybe we will have detailed explanations. In the meantime - be your own scientist and observe, and record, and review your own observations. And don’t invent “authority” that doesn’t exist. Intuition is enough for now.
12) Intuition is an amazing source of questions and questions are what feed and fuel discovery. Questions aren’t answers. And telling people stuff like “raise your vibes” is often a means to discount real issues and spiritually bypass.
13) So: don’t be a pompous, spiritually bypassing ass. Sometimes we can’t explain stuff. Fine. That’s okay. It’s possible to balance an open mind with critical thinking skills. The natural world is amazing and it’s even more amazing when we accept and observe it as it is.
Darn. There’s a couple things I would love to edit in this thread for clarification, but NO EDIT FUNCTION, sigh. Another thread, another time, perhaps.
