The President of the United States lies to undermine the integrity of our democracy. He incited violence. Welcome to our reality as African Americans. Poll tax, literacy test, kidnapping, and murder as many other Presidents and our government did nothing. We have been here before
As Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner were murdered in Philadelphia MS. because they were registering Americans to exercise their right to vote and the murder of Jimmie Lee Jackson in Selma AL because he was marching to vote, we must remember that was our democracy being undermined.
America, don’t act shocked by Trump’s demagoguery and his attack on the sacred act of voting. This has been the norm for generations in the Black communities of our nation as systematic repression of our vote happens with each election cycle. We have tolerated this corruption
President Trump will be voted out of office in the next few days. He will lie and degrade the process to misinform and fight to keep power. This abuse will shock many Americans. In the African American community, its a reminder that we are far from a more perfect Union.
The legacy of this unpatriotic President will be the reality that our democratic institutions are fragile and easily abused. His actions and policy have constantly contradicted our declared values of equality and fairness. America’s chronic disease of hypocrisy will be our demise
