When unpredictable, difficult or unusual events happen, progressive liberals cannot process them because it strikes against their deepest (and really religious) faith. Those of us who see history as a bit chaotic and humans as sinful just think, meh, what did you expect.
Hence the pathetic blubbering of all these metro libs when things don't go the way they magically thought was inevitable or when people disagree with them or don't follow the script. Those Whig tears must taste all the more bitter when you thought you had everything stitched up.
The issue is that the Whiggish either a) know little history and therefore forget the zigzag course of events & how civilizations have risen and fallen etc or b) have a laughably distorted view of history that has been twisted to fit their prejudices. It's quiet sad really
But their narcissism is probably their biggest feature. They take their worldview, which is atheistic, utilitarian, individualistic, fall in love with it (for reasons I don't understand), and then totally forget how bizarre it is and how little shared across both time and place.
Your worldview represents that of a tiny % of people both alive today and who have ever lived: white, 'educated' in modern universities, wealthy, disconnected from community, non-religious. Yet you see deviation from it as the odd thing. No, adherence to it is the aberration
