Millions of Christians are trembling under the oppressive consequences of a truly life-altering election right now, & Progressive Christianity has chosen to attack the notion that “God is in control” under the premise that saying so is unhelpful.

Guess what else isn’t helpful👆
Christianity has always and will forever be a religion for the oppressed. Reminding ourselves that God is in control has *always* been a powerful corrective to the injustices that we experience and labor against.
I follow a sizable variety of Christians from every walk of life, & guess what, the ones that I saw saying “God is in control” before progressive Christianity jumped down their throat were all, to a person, ppl who are terrified of what this election might mean for their life.
I get the desire to correct misuses of a concept that many have weaponized. But there’s a difference between correcting that weaponization when it occurs and demonizing the utterance of “God is in control” altogether.
“God is in control” belongs to oppressed people in the first place. THAT is the truth that needs to be told. Attacking this truth and claiming it to be unhelpful is a profound inaccuracy. Missing the target altogether.
