/ Full disclosure, I've never been keen on Donald Trump. He lacks emotional intelligence, he grossly exaggerates, he makes false statements, he's rude and he's ignorant. To me, in 2016 he was the wrong man, but with the right type of sentiment for fixing problems in America.
/ He was an outsider from the cabal of machine politicians. That wasn't the only reason he was disliked by Democrats and a lot of Republicans, but was one of them. The fact many Republican politicians asked registered Republicans to vote for a Democrat candidate says it all.
/ For me it's no big loss if he loses the election. America deserves better in my opinion. The big loss is that in Joe Biden, America will have managed to find worse. Incredibly the Dems have put forward someone who is even less competent to be President.
/ Biden is the template machine politician. But he represents a strand of thinking on the American left that advocates dangerous and divisive identity politics. He actively seeks out wedge issues. He is not a unifier. He risks exacerbating the race relations problems in the US.
/ At a time when people were being arrested for violently protesting against police as part of the BLM/Antifa demonstrations, Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, were encouraging fund raising to pay for the arrested to make bail and return to the streets.
/ From a UK perspective Biden is no ally. This is a man wedded to the idea of powerful blocks, like the EU, and to anti-democratic global governance, such as the WEF's desire of a 'global reset'. Worse, he has long supported IRA terrorists and their sympathisers.
/ Biden also claims the idea of customs checks on the island of Ireland breaks the Belfast Agreement, despite all evidence to the contrary in the agreement itself. He was opposed to Brexit and he would make it harder for the UK to have a FTA with the US.
/ There is no doubt that major questions need to be answered about the way the US election count was conducted. The slew of anecdotal evidence points to widespread electoral fraud. People who want Trump out seem content to turn a blind eye, ends justifying the means.
/ That should worry us all. Both main parties in the US should be unified in calling for open and detailed investigations to identify and address any fraudulent practice, so Americans can have confidence in their existing system, regardless of any structural flaws.
/ An emotionally mature version of Trump would have made the case in a rational and calm and dignified manner, and would have received a lot of backing for it. But his tantrums are allowing any wrongdoers to get away with it as people ignore the rants and hope he is defeated.
/ Part of the problem is the tribalism that infests politics now. Only the 'other side' can do wrong and are considered nefarious by default. 'My side' must be portrayed as fault free and no dissent will be tolerated. The UK is on the same path and needs to change course.
/ We need a clear, responsible and moderate centre-right alternative to the centrist and left wing 'mainstream' that dominates politics here. We need people of maturity and integrity who are not machine politicians, and who are not in thrall to identity politics.
/ People who are determined to make a success of our newly restored independence as a country. People who will work for everyone in our society to benefit from considered policies that reward hard work and entrepreneurship, while protecting and supporting those who need help.
/ It needs to happen now. Because if we don't get that alternative now, in a few years time the UK could find itself suffering from the same kind of vicious division and promotion of agendas on the basis of race and political viewpoints, that is harming America today.
