Even though I love selling on eBay,

I still remember how nervous I felt listing my first item.

If you're feeling intimidated by eBay, I'm here to help.

Here are 5 listing tips for eBay newbies.

- A Thread -
1. Take/borrow good pictures

Buyers are scrolling through hundreds of listings.

Your pictures NEED to be clear & 👀 catching.

If your item is brand new, I'd suggest "borrowing" someone else's pictures to save time.

Just find a listing with GOOD pictures & screenshot them.
If your item is used, or you'd prefer to take your own pictures, that's ok!

You need:
- A white background
- Good lighting
- Your phone's camera

Take CLEAR pictures from every angle.

The buyer should see the pictures & know EXACTLY what they're receiving.
2. Scan your item!

If your item is brand new or if you have the original box,

scan the barcode.

Do this by clicking the camera icon in the search bar.

Your camera will open, & you'll be able to scan the barcode.

This will automatically find the exact item you're looking for.
3. Checking comps

This is important even if you're not listing on eBay.

After you've scanned/searched for your item:
- Click "filter"
- Click "show more"
- Scroll down & toggle "sold items"
- Close the filter

I suggest looking at the most recent sales to see current value.
After you've closed the filter tab click on the "sort" button.

Sort the items by End Date: Recent First

This is very important as most items will decrease in value after a slew of listings pop up.

Sellers will "race to the bottom" so you need to be aware of the current value.
4. Use the "Sell One Like This" button

Click on a sold listing.

You should see this button near the top. Click on it!

This will save you A TON of time.

The only things you'll have to change are:
- Pictures
- Price
- Delivery method
Here's what I adjust:
- Ensure the title uses all 80 characters for SEO
- Disable auction, offers, & easy pricing
- Update quantity
- Enter package details
- Choose the cheapest form of shipping

List it!

Then:
- Promote item @ 2% or less if you want (I don't always promote).
5. If your item hasn't sold in a few days, here's what to look at:

- How many views does it have?
- Are there watchers?

If you have a decent # of views and you have a watcher, you're most likely priced right & need to wait it out.

If not, here's what you can do 👇
- Lower the price or increase the promotion %.
- Check the comps again (the value may have dropped)
- Take better pictures.
- Adjust your title to have more "searchable" words

If you have a watcher, you can send them an offer to see if a lower price would make them buy 👀
Bonus tip:

If you sold your item on eBay, always check http://www.pirateship.com  for shipping rates.

The best shipping rates will either be from Pirate Ship or from eBay themselves.

NEVER buy postage at the post office.

You'll pay full price there.
That's it!
