Hi, Chukwudi, you have asked a valid question. I would assume that this question was borne out of sincere ignorance, and as a result, I would like to enlighten you with the following https://twitter.com/xtopheranioha/status/1324342955331723264
First, you need to be aware that Nursing and Medicine are two different but interdependent professions. Nurses just as Doctors play critical roles in providing patient care by bringing a unique set of nursing skills to the table.
Some of these skills include; collection of subjective and objective data, reporting clinical information, implementing the treatment plan, helping patients with activities of daily living, collaborating with the care team to ensure that treatment plan is carried out...
...advocating for the patient etc. Having mentioned all these, I believe that the reason one might consider being a Nurse over a doctor is because many nurses with certain qualifications can also diagnose patients, prescribe treatment, interpret laboratory investigations...
...just as doctors while they (Nurses) still maintain stronger patient relationships, an attribute that is absent in medicine because Nurses spend the most time with the patients and this has placed Nursing at the forefront of patient care.
I believe I've been able to help you.
