Prof of Literature whose last paper is "Techno-Anxiety & the Middlebrow: Science-Fictionalizing in Fictional Mainstream of Early Twenty-First Century.” is of course going to argue elite education doesn't make you part of in-group

Because on left you get validity if marginalized
There is complete misunderstanding on parts of left twitter about importance of Cultural Capital.

Badly paid adjuncts have my full sympathy, especially since the industry they are mistreated by claims to be advocates for equality & labor rights.

But, being a badly paid academic is rarely the same as being a badly paid worker at McDonald's.

It is far more often a choice
There is this weird thing on parts of the academic left to look at things in entirely economic terms. I get paid badly, therefor I cannot have any status.

It is like they have no understanding of how societies & hierarchies operate, and how having lots of choices is a wealth.
