So you know how you create a routine and it works and you think that you’re going to live in this routine State forever? I think we all know by now that this is not how our brain works.

Our routines stagnate and we stop doing them. Sometimes we don’t even realize it.
Whenever that happens, I do a “back to basics” for myself. I look at my life as it is currently and figure out what my needs are in this moment. Right now? My med schedule has gotten a little off because I was doing my meds at the same time as the dog. Too many things to remember
I also need to take my ass to bed sooner. I’m in a period where I get inspired at night and then it is 1:30AM and I have a life that I have to live soooooo I need to not be up quite that late EVERY night. When I get like this a nighttime routine can be incredibly helpful.
So I backed my meds and morning stuff (wash face, brush teeth, etc) by an hour so I have MY time separate from the boys. Bonus? I’m taking my meds when I wake up, so by the time I have to do the things the stimulants are in place.

This routine won’t always be what I need.
That’s ok. When this routine stagnates, I know how to reassess and get back into where I need to be. Remember, life ebbs and flows and needs change. Don’t let a stagnant schedule make you feel like you’re failing. The schedule is there to accommodate your needs, not indict you.
