tweeting this because im sick of hearing people identifying as a "bi/pan lesbian" or a "straight lesbian". this is gonna be a thread explaining why those terms invalidate 4 (3 kinda since straight people are privileged) sexualities at once.
explaining what "bi/pan lesbian" means
people who say they are a bi/pan lesbian are sapphics (wlw and nblw) with a lean towards women, hence the "lesbian"

explaining why the term "bi/pan lesbian" is harmful (1/2)
it's harmful since you're saying lesbians can be attracted to men, which they aren't. you're literally putting 2 sexualities together and calling it a term, you can't do that. lesbians are not attracted to men, and

bi/pan people can be.
bi/pan people can be.
explaining what "straight lesbian" means
a straight lesbian is basically just a straight woman who wants to call themself lgbtq+.

explaining why the term "straight lesbian" is harmful (1/3)
it kind of explains itself. being lgbtq+ IS NOT A TREND. DON'T CALL YOURSELF LGBTQ TO "FIT IN" IF YOU'RE CISHET. people who are lgbtq+ go through so much, they might deal with homophobia/transphobia, non acceptance,

shit like this, and more. i hate having to deal with this, you are not quirky or cool for calling yourself lgbtq+ when you know you aren't. plus, you're again saying that lesbians can be attracted to men when they

are not. you're putting 2 sexualities together and calling it a thing when it's not.

this also goes for bi/pan gays and straight gays. THEY ARE NOT A THING. you're being homophobic, lesphobic, biphobic, and panphobic at once, just fucking stop. give us a break, we really need it.
explaining what a he/him they/them lesbian is (1/2)
first off, pronouns don't always equal gender. before you argue in the replies, read this. HE/THEY LESBIANS ARE VALID. it does NOT mean they're men, they are women or nonbinary people who just like he/they pronouns better,

it's not weird. it might be confusing at first but when you start to educate yourself on topics like this it's not that confusing. if you hate on he/him or they/them lesbians, literally hard block me right now.

same goes for they/them and she/her gays, they are men or nonbinary people who like she/they pronouns better, and are very valid.
explaining what a nonbinary lesbian is (1/2)
a nonbinary lesbian is a person who identifies as nonbinary and a lesbian. i was confused on how a lesbian could be nonbinary since i thought lesbians are women, which is wrong. lesbians just aren't attracted to men, you can be

nonbinary or a woman and be a lesbian, you just can't be a man and id as a lesbian. same as nonbinary gays, they are valid.

neopronoun lesbians and neopronouns gays are valid!!! ily guys /p :D
neopronouns are different sets of pronouns that people use to express their gender better. people may find comfort in using them. plus they're just really cool in general and fun to use :)

tldr; straight lesbians, straight gays, bi/pan lesbians, and bi/pan gays aren't valid. just say you're wlw/nblw or mlm/nblm if you can't find a term that fits you. don't invalidate people when trying to find your own identity, that's the worst thing you can do.
if you have any lgbtq+ related questions or questions about anything i said in the thread reply with them and i'll try to answer them! if i can't then someone else might be able to. anyways this thread was way longer then expected so i'm ending the thread here. rt's appreciated!!
oh and also just stop. biphobia, panphobia, lesphobia, homophobia, and just lgbtphobia is so normalized and it really fucking hurts. i hate having to hide my identity because some dumb conservative bigots don't want to open up and learn about the wondrous world of lgbtq+
