NEW: Prominent GOP veterans of the Justice Department rebuke Barr for distributing memo reversing longstanding DOJ policy.
“The voters decide the winner in an election, not the President, and not the Attorney General," wrote the lawyers in a statement released late last night.
Letter signed by several veterans, including Ken Wainstein, former assistant AG under Pres. GW Bush and Don Ayer, former deputy AG under George HW Bush.
Letter signed by former GOP DOJ officials goes on to say: "We have seen absolutely no evidence of anything that should get in the way of certification of the results, which is something the states handle, not the federal government."
The statement from bipartisan DOJ veterans concludes: "The American people spoke clearly, and now the country needs to move forward toward a peaceful transfer of power.”
