I don’t know about you, but it’s more difficult than I feel like it should be to continue to stay focused on building and creating value instead of getting sidetracked by shiny things
#buildinpublic has helped me by lowering the bar for release and being a natural antidote to perfectionism.

@thisiskp_ has been inspirational on that front and helped me stay motivated and focused
I’ve been doing my best to balance learning from others and learning by doing.

Trying to create more than I consume
Something new for me is buying instead of building.

Which is foreign as I’m used to making all of my technology for myself.

But I also know that the value I’m creating isn’t in the tech stack I’m using
For example, buying a beautiful 100$ theme from @aspirethemes for my website saved me a month of work that wouldn’t have added any value to my product or audience.

And it spurred me on to publish 5x more frequently
Getting distracted by improving the design of my product is too easy, so I’m only allowing myself to work on that one day a week, and only in the name of optimizing conversions and sales
When I write it like that, it seems like it should be obvious to do, but after spending the last decade doing design and development work, I really have to fight sometimes to stay focused instead of implementing the shiny new idea that wouldn’t add value to my audience
