I just had a long and pretty deep conversation about how Porky Minch from Earthbound may be directly inspired by Donald Trump, and that's the reason why he was completely removed from smash ultimate & possible future projects

And there's actual some substantial evidence for it

It goes beyond just the general appearance stuff, a lot of the stuff that Porky was based off of Trump was pretty damn intentional it seems. Here's what the trivia page points out:

Fourside is quite obviously based off New York, and the Monotoli Tower is also Pretty similar to the many towers in New York but especially the Trump tower, considering stuff like the Golden Room where you talk to Porky when you meet him there.

So initially they made Porky as a Trump parody, but what really is scary is that in Mother 3, Porky literally becomes a Fascist Dictator as the main antagonist of the game, which is scary when you realize his real life counterpart would try to attempt the same years later.

It's shocking just how accurate Porky was at predicting Trump's eventual outcome (and what Trump is aiming to do), right down to the army of pigs.

Then we come to Smash ultimate which apparently has literally no mention of Porky himself (despite his prominent boss role in brawl) or his army, the only possible mention is the absolutely safe capsule, which doesn't even use the sprite where Porky is in, it's the empty sprite

The only direct mentions of Porky in ultimate is the helicopter at Fourside (which doesn't show Porky so it might not be a direct mention) and thebstatue in New Pork City the latter of which Sakurai did draw attention to in a twitter picture but strangely made no comment above it

I say strangely because the vast majority of these pics have some kind of tidbit or information or trivia about what's being featured.

It all ties in with what I think:

When they initially made the character he was just a simple parody of Trump, but they never could have guessed that the Guy would end up actually doing what Porky does in mother 3 and try and become a Fascist Dictator.

So now they are phasing him out because of the connection

It would explain why there are no spirits in smash of Porky or one's really relating to him, and would also explains why Sakurai didn't mention him at all in that picture, probably to avoid bringing him up.

Nintendo might be trying to avoid direct acknowledgement of Porky.

I saw this was announced recently and it reminds me that even though there's been a big influx of mother merchandise Porky seems to be missing from any of it or at the very least promotional material

If he gets nothing at these pop up shops it will all but confirm my suspicions-

that they are phasing him out.

And although I don't think it's the main factor, I think it could be a small factor to why they are hesitant to releasing Mother 3 in the west officially. I think there are other factors that play bigger roles, but I think it's still possible.

And regarding smash, should the possibility that Porky was planned as dlc, they might have delayed or cancelled it cus they realized just how bad of an image and message that could be unfortunately send

"Here's Lil' Donny as dlc for smash, all while the real Donald Trump is planning/pulling a Fascist coup to keep power!"

It would be (unintentionally) sending a bad message and people would understandably be pretty upset.

Lot of folks in general don't wanna think about the current horrible situation happening and Nintendo probably doesn't want to stoke the flames so either way, they scrubbed any mention of Porky from smash and are probably gonna reduce his appearances drastically for now on.

It isn't something they can easily censor or remove like the did to Samurai Goroh's headband of the imperial rising sun, Porky seemingly was designed around being a parody of Trump, to fix him would mean reworking his character entirely or removing him completely unfortunately

A reminder this is all still Ultimately (no pun intended) speculation and he may not have been a Trump parody but the evidence points to it, and recent events lining up with Porky's arc in Mother 3 t seem to be the most likely reason why his appearances have been so few.

Nintendo and the Mother devs will probably never admit that Porky was meant to be Donald Trump, even if it was all true they would probably still deny it to avoid drawing attention to the pretty obvious similarities, so even if this is all true expect it never to be mentioned.

I wanna go the record saying I don't hate earthbound or the devs for this at all I think it's fine, I just noticed the similarities between Porky and Trump and how his reduced appearances may like up with what's happened/happening right now regarding Trump.

I really wanted Porky Minch for smash but if this is all true I think it might be wise for them to hold off announcing Porky if he really was planned for dlc, or even if they cancelled it.

Understandably it would not sit well with many folk if he was announced now.

I think this was an interesting subject to talk about and it's pretty funny how the original conversation went from making jokes about Porky being Trump, to then discovering all these other details and factors that may have actually legitimized our speculation.
