WHEN A SWEEP IS TAKING PLACE, OUR JOB IS TO:

- document police activity
- verbally vouch/request for more time before the camp is cleared
- ask displaced folx what they need (food, supplies, gear, transportation to where their belongings will be dropped off to)
- DE-ESCALATE!
this goes for even if the cops show up in riot gear!

we are NOT there to fight cops, we are there to protect people and their homes! we do not want to cause more harm!!
and know that when sweeps are already taking place, they’re pretty difficult to halt (though i’m not sure what that looks like when there’s this much community defense)
so if it’s inevitable, it’s in everyone’s best interest to be a voice of support, de-escalate as best you can (folx will be emotional), and ASK WHAT PEOPLE NEED.
