What's a record by a veteran artist that came out in 2020 that you feel was a lot better than you would have expected at this stage of their career?
my answer is Pearl Jam's Gigaton, which I think is the best album they've made since the end of the '90s and includes a few songs – "Never Destination," "Who Ever Said," "Dance of the Clairvoyants" – that I'd put in the top echelon of their catalog - didn't expect this at all
I think my other answer is Busta Rhymes' Extinction Level Event 2, which is just astoundingly great and while he's always been good I think this album reframes him and his career in really cool ways - being a lifer really suits him and his voice ages well
